Carmel Home was established in 1952. It is owned and operated by the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus. We are a Roman Catholic Nursing Home open to senior citizens regardless of religion, race, or sex. The Sisters' living quarters are part of the Home, thus allowing the Sisters to be an active part of the Home twenty-four (24) hours a day. In this way we are able to ensure that the spirit and purpose of the Home is always maintained.
Carmel Home is a a home for the elderly licensed as Personal Care and a Nursing Care Facility. The Personal Care area accommodates 79 residents. The Nursing Care level has 36 residents. Residents living in the Personal Care level are transferred to the Nursing Care level when their needs require this.
While Carmel Home is a long-term retirement facility, each resident may choose the length of his or her stay. All accommodations are available on a monthly basis and charged accordingly. Our goal, of course, is to provide a "Home Away from Home" for all who live here. We like to think of your room as your home, and we encourage you to personalize it so that it feels like home.
The center of our Home is our Chapel, it is a constant reminder to us that Carmel Home is a God-centered Home. In our Chapel we have daily Mass and we pray the Rosary together.
Carmel Home offers many services to our Residents. We have daily activities (in house as well as outdoor outings), twenty-four hour nursing care, housekeeping, laundry, and dietary service including three meals per day. Carmel Home has 15 acres of lovely grounds, including two parks with gazebo, pathways, beautiful flowering trees, and a shrine to the Virgin of the Poor. The gazebo and other outdoor facilities may be used for family gatherings or private picnics. Also on the grounds we have a guesthouse and cabin for the families to stay while visiting their loved ones.
